The Society is a charity recognised by HMRC with a membership open by application to any person who wishes to join and is in agreement with the Aim and Objects of the organisation. The Objects of the Society are to encourage the science and practice of horticulture in gardens and allotments, the holding of shows and talks, the protection of members’ interests, providing trading facilities where possible and by such other means as the Committee shall decide. The management of the Society is conducted by a Committee that is elected annually at the Annual General Meeting, normally held in March. There are three Shows in the year, a series of winter evening talks covering a wide range of horticultural topics and visits by coach to gardens within an easy day’s reach of Buckhurst Hill. Members of the Society are permitted to use the trading facilities of Woodford & District Horticultural Society.
